The cartoon girl on the label is emaciated and has completely unrealistic proportions, to be frank. Definitely NOT a healthy woman or "girl." Companies should not be putting these images out there into the world to pollute the brains of REAL women and girls with NORMAL size legs, rather than these glorified chopsticks.
Furthermore, by calling the brand "Skinny Girl," the company is basically claiming that eating these "tasty" nutrition bars will make the consumer thin, like the woman portrayed on the package.
So, I did a little research and found out that this company has a whole line of products--everything from salad dressings to alcohol to nutrition bars. Basically all of these products are marketed with the slogans "sugar free" and/or "fat free," along with their friend "low/no calorie."
Newsflash: food is MEANT to have calories in it. THAT'S THE WHOLE FREAKING POINT. Without calories, you will die. Quickly.
This company is just a tiny part of a huge industry- the diet industry, which is bent on mind-controlling people (mostly women, but some men too) into believing that they NEED to be "skinny" to be successful. This is SO untrue. People are successful if they work hard, they do what they love, and they do good in the world. The diet industry is a huge contributor to the eating disorder epidemic currently ravaging this planet, along with the fashion industry.
I am a huge advocate of the "New Baptist Plan" (Dietland reference. Great book.), which involves NO calorie counting and NO weighing.
Please please please please try to love your body. It's the only one you have. Your legs, though you may not like how they wiggle or touch, hold you up and help you walk. Your arms, though you may not like how they jiggle at the top or how you can't wrap your fingers around them, help you pick up things, like puppies or babies. Your stomach, though you may not like the little bit of squish above your pants, helps you so you can lay down comfortably, and on the inside, it helps you digest your food so you can absorb all the nutrients you need to make your cells happy. Your butt, though you think it may be too big or too small or too squishy, cushions you so you can sit down without feeling your coccyx all the time. Your boobs, though you think they may be too big or too small or too heavy, help you nurse (if you decide to. It's fine if you don't want to have children or if you want to bottle-feed.) and look super cute. Your body houses your mind and spirit. Without it, you wouldn't exist. Please be grateful you have one that functions and helps you live.
If you're not happy with your body and want to lose weight (for health reasons) HEALTHILY, just feed your body good, healthy foods (NOT this diet bullshit. Normal vegetables, proteins, and carbs.) and exercise a little bit so it can be happy. You can, of course, still eat cookies or cake occasionally (I do ALL THE TIME).
Don't buy this stupid diet food.
If you want a cookie, eat a fucking cookie.
